Anvil features roadmap

Concerning Anvil, is it planned to be a fully usable compositor in future? Additions like workspaces, cycling apps, maximizing, closing, etc. Or is it only planned as a test environment?

It is a test environment / example compositor. No plans to change that. Real Smithay compositors are listed here

There's been talk of removing anvil now there are multiple more complete Smithay-based compositors, though I think it's useful for testing.

There are some things that can be improved in anvil, but it's generally good for testing and as example code to keep it as minimal as possible, while still demonstrating various Smithay features.
