fix(managed): key metric observations by namespace and name - #1254
MRMetricRecorder keeps its firstObservation and lastObservation maps keyed by managed.GetName(). With namespaced managed resources, two MRs named the same in different namespaces share one entry:
managed_resource_first_time_to_readiness_seconds drops a sample, because the first MR to become ready deletes the shared entry and the second one finds nothing.
managed_resource_drift_seconds can record a sample for an MR that was never observed unchanged, using the other MR's timestamp.
This change keys both maps by types.NamespacedName. recordUnchanged now takes the resource.Managed instead of a name so the namespace is available at that call site too. The interface methods are unexported, so the signature change stays inside the package.
The new metrics_test.go registers the recorder with a Prometheus registry and checks histogram sample counts for two MRs named collide in namespaces a and b. With a name-only key, both cases fail (readiness count 1 instead of 2, one unexpected drift sample). With the fix, both pass.
MRMetricRecorder tracked in-flight observations by managed resource name
only. Managed resources with the same name in different namespaces
overwrote each other's entries, so first time to readiness samples were
dropped and drift samples could use another resource's timestamp.
Key both observation maps by namespace and name, and pass the managed
resource to recordUnchanged so the namespace is available.

Managed-resource metric observations now use namespace-and-name keys. The recorder interface and its reconciler call site pass the managed resource for unchanged observations. Tests cover same-named resources in separate namespaces for readiness and drift metrics.
The recorder keys observation timestamps and first-ready tracking by namespace and name. The unchanged-observation call passes the managed resource. Tests cover readiness and drift observations for resources with the same name in different namespaces.
The namespace fix addresses incorrect readiness and drift metrics. Observation entries still survive resource deletion, increasing memory retention under namespace churn; this is a low-impact concern suitable for explicit owner awareness and cleanup follow-up.

Explanation
Thank you for the clear reproduction and the focused fix. Issue #1140 asks for two things. Both are implemented at head.
Readiness samples must not drop for same-named MRs in different namespaces. In pkg/reconciler/managed/metrics.go, firstObservation is now keyed by observationKey(managed), a types.NamespacedName built from GetNamespace() and GetName(). recordFirstTimeReconciled stores with this key, and recordFirstTimeReady loads and deletes with this key.
Drift samples must not use another resource's timestamp. lastObservation is now keyed the same way. recordUnchanged takes resource.Managed and stores under observationKey(managed). recordDrift loads and stores under observationKey(managed).
The issue suggests changing recordUnchanged to take the managed resource. The interface method and NopMetricRecorder now do this. The single call site in pkg/reconciler/managed/reconciler.go now passes managed instead of managed.GetName(). The method is unexported, so the signature change stays inside the package. The author reports that go test ./pkg/reconciler/... passes, which compiles the package, including any internal callers.
The new TestMRMetricRecorderNamespacedResources in metrics_test.go covers both paths with two MRs named collide in namespaces a and b. Its FirstTimeReady case expects a readiness count of 2. Its DriftWithoutPreviousObservation case expects no drift sample. Under a name-only key, both cases would fail, as the author describes. Under the namespaced key, both should pass.
The issue states that no reconciliation behavior changes are expected. The diff changes only metric bookkeeping and the call argument.

Explanation
All changed files relate to issue #1140.
pkg/reconciler/managed/metrics.go: changes the key type for firstObservation and lastObservation, updates recordUnchanged and NopMetricRecorder, adds the import for k8s.io/apimachinery/pkg/types, and adds the observationKey helper. Each change serves the namespace-aware key objective.
pkg/reconciler/managed/reconciler.go: changes one line so that recordUnchanged receives the managed resource. This is required by the new signature and by the namespace-aware key.
pkg/reconciler/managed/metrics_test.go: adds a regression test for the namespace collision cases in the issue. This supports the objective.
No unrelated refactoring, behavior change, or documentation change appears in the reviewed diff.
A non-blocking question for the author: the new test covers only collisions across namespaces. Would you also consider a case where two MRs in the same namespace share a name, or a positive drift case with a namespaced key? These would strengthen the regression coverage. They are not required by the issue.
Full details: Breaking Changes
Explanation
The pull request does not introduce a breaking change to an exported API. The only signature change is from recordUnchanged(name string) to recordUnchanged(managed resource.Managed) on MetricRecorder and NopMetricRecorder; both methods are unexported. Exported constructors, types, and methods retain their signatures. The runtime change only prevents metric collisions by using namespace-and-name keys, which is a corrective metrics behavior and does not break callers.

Add a positive drift case for same-named resources.
The drift case only checks that no sample is recorded. A recordDrift that never observes would still pass this test. Add a case where both resources are recorded unchanged and b drifts, expecting one drift sample.

Thanks for adding namespace coverage. This case checks the sample count only, not the timestamp. Should the test also check the observed duration?

Delete observation entries when managed resources are removed.
lastObservation and firstObservation never drop entries for deleted resources. Namespaced resources that share a name now get separate entries, so namespace churn grows both maps. Delete both keys in recordDeleted. Also plan cleanup for resources removed outside that path.
Thanks for the namespace fix. It closes the readiness and drift collision.
