Why

Every Dependabot PR (#300-#337) rewrites go.mod to go 1.26.0 because golang.org/x/crypto 0.58, x/text and echo 4.16.2 require it. CI pinned Go 1.25 with GOTOOLCHAIN=local, so lint, test, unit and mcpresource failed with "go.mod requires go >= 1.26.0 (running go 1.25.14)" and auto-merge never fired.

What changes

  • setup-go is 1.26 in ci.yml, release.yml and bench.yml (codeql already was). Root and mcpresource go.mod say go 1.26.0. README, CONTRIBUTING, bug template, docs and tutorials say 1.26. CHANGELOG notes the new minimum Go version. Example modules are left at go 1.25.0.
  • govulncheck and codeql get concurrency (cancel only on PRs). On PRs govulncheck scans only modules with changed files; push and schedule still run the full matrix. Check names are unchanged. Required checks on main (test, lint, analyze, CodeQL) are untouched.
  • dependabot.yml: groups for golang.org/x/*, test tooling, a minor/patch catch-all, and one group each for mcpresource, audit/sinks/otlp and github-actions. Open PR limits lowered to 2-3.

Verified

  • go1.26.5, GOTOOLCHAIN=local: root go build, go vet, go test show no FAIL lines. mcpresource passes vet and test with GOWORK=off. actionlint clean.

Not verified

  • The govulncheck PR filter has not run on a real pull_request event.
  • Dependabot grouping only takes effect once this is on main.
  • go mod tidy and go work sync were skipped.
  • The /testify pattern in the test-tooling group may match nothing.

After merge

Rebase open Dependabot PRs #300, #301, #302, #303, #317, #335, #336, #337.

Raising the Go floor from 1.25 is a support-policy change. Go 1.25 is out of upstream support and the nested modules already require 1.26.
