Description

Adds Requesty as an OpenAI-compatible provider in Alice, wired through the same sites as OpenRouter and API Route.

  • New src/services/llmProviders/requesty.ts using the shared chat-completions and streaming pipeline (createOpenAICompatibleResponse)
  • Model discovery through the Electron HTTP bridge: Requesty managed models (GET /v1/models/managed) first, followed by the full catalog (GET /v1/models, authenticated, which also validates the key). Non-chat models are filtered out
  • Requesty client in apiClients.ts, provider routing in apiService.ts, requesty added to providerCatalog.ts (default model openai/gpt-4o-mini), the stream adapter and OpenAI-compatible provider unions
  • VITE_REQUESTY_API_KEY stored through the protected settings boundary (settingsSecurity.ts), added to settingsManager.ts and settingsStore.ts (validation, essential keys, onboarding, provider switch defaults)
  • https://router.requesty.ai added to the HTTP bridge allowlist
  • Core Settings provider option and key field, AssistantSettingsTab model refresh, and the onboarding wizard (key test, voice step, final summary), mirroring OpenRouter
  • README and docs/setupInstructions.md updated

Requesty is opt-in only; it is not added to any default or automatic provider choice.

How to test: get a key at https://app.requesty.ai/api-keys, pick Requesty as the AI provider in Core Settings (or in the setup wizard), paste the key, then use model openai/gpt-4o-mini (or pick any model after Refresh Models).

What is the purpose of this pull request?

  • Bug fix
  • New Feature
  • Documentation update
  • Other

Validation

  • npx vue-tsc --noEmit: pass
  • npm test: 30 files, 134 tests passed (new requesty.test.ts plus a providerCatalog case)
  • npx prettier --check on touched source files: clean
  • npm run build:web: pass
  • Live run through listRequestyModelsForConfig and createRequestyResponse with a real key: model list loaded (managed plus catalog), an invalid key returned 403, and openai/gpt-4o-mini answered in both non-streaming and streaming mode

Disclosure: I work at Requesty. Happy to adjust anything to match project conventions.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Requesty is now available as an AI provider in settings and onboarding. Add and test an API key, then choose from Requesty’s managed models and catalog.
    • The default model is openai/gpt-4o-mini. Requesty supports chat inference; cloud voice and memory features require OpenAI or local voice and memory mode. Image generation is not supported.

Add Requesty as an OpenAI-compatible provider with model discovery (managed models plus the full catalog), secure key storage, onboarding, settings, documentation, and tests.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The pull request adds Requesty as an AI provider. It adds API-key storage and setup, Requesty model discovery and chat responses, and updates provider settings, onboarding, security boundaries, tests, and documentation.

Changes

Requesty provider

Layer / File(s) Summary
Provider contract and settings
src/services/llmProviders/providerCatalog.ts, src/services/llmProviders/openAICompatible.ts, electron/main/settingsManager.ts, electron/main/settingsSecurity.ts, src/stores/settingsStore.ts
The provider catalog and settings types accept Requesty. The settings store validates and persists its API key, and selects the provider’s default model.
Model discovery and chat responses
electron/main/securityBoundaries.ts, src/__tests__/securityBoundaries.test.ts, src/services/apiClients.ts, src/services/llmProviders/requesty.ts, src/services/apiService.ts, src/services/llmProviders/streamAdapters.ts, src/modules/conversation/backendService.ts, src/services/llmProviders/__tests__/*
The Requesty client uses its router URL. Model discovery combines managed and catalog chat models. API service paths select Requesty for model listing and response creation. Tests cover discovery, response creation, provider defaults, and the router origin.
Settings and onboarding
src/components/settings/*, src/components/wizard/*, README.md, docs/setupInstructions.md
The settings and onboarding screens add Requesty selection, API-key entry, and key testing. Voice setup checks for an OpenAI key when Requesty is selected. Documentation lists Requesty and describes its setup and service limitations.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 69fa4

Requesty setup can finish with an unavailable model, and switching to Requesty in settings can retain an old provider’s models. Correct both selection paths before merging.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 69fa4

Requesty is optional and uses existing safeguards for saved credentials and network requests. However, if a settings update fails, conversations may continue using an earlier Requesty credential until the connection is refreshed.

Retained concerns

  • Medium · security · inferred: After a Requesty key change, a failed settings save can leave the cached client using the earlier credential while current settings hold the replacement. Subsequent Requesty conversations can therefore use the wrong credential until reinitialization.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — Exposure is principally the selected desktop user's Requesty credential and conversations sent with it. Adding the built-in origin also makes that origin reachable through the generic renderer HTTP bridge without checking provider selection.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — If a Requesty credential is changed while its earlier client remains cached and the subsequent save fails, a later Requesty response can still use the earlier credential. A normal successful save replaces the client; no independent attacker-controlled renderer path was established.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The Requesty key enters protected secret storage through the settings boundary. Model discovery sends it as a bearer credential to a fixed Requesty origin, while the bridge enforces origin validation rather than provider-specific authorization.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — The shared provider-client caching pattern predates Requesty, but adding a Requesty credential gives failed-save and interrupted-update states another credential whose in-memory owner can diverge from current settings.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Bind cached provider clients to the active credential or invalidate them when credentials change, including when persistence fails. Consider whether a built-in provider origin should remain reachable before that provider is selected.

Reset both model IDs when Requesty is selected.

CoreSettingsTab.vue mutates currentSettings.aiProvider with v-model but does not emit update:setting. The parent watcher later calls settingsStore.updateSetting('aiProvider', ...), which sets both model IDs to Requesty defaults. The watcher then replays the stale currentSettings.assistantModel and currentSettings.SUMMARIZATION_MODEL values, so switching from OpenAI can restore the old IDs.

Emit the provider change and synchronize both currentSettings model IDs with the store defaults:

Checked this against the other providers. The provider select has no @change emit for any of them; it relies on the Settings.vue watcher, which calls updateSetting('aiProvider') and then replays the remaining keys from currentSettings in the same pass. Z.ai, MiniMax, DeepSeek, API Route and Codex all reset their model IDs through that path and get the same replay, and OpenRouter does not reset the model IDs on a switch at all. Requesty follows the existing providers here, so I left the shared watcher alone in this PR. If the maintainer wants it, I can send a separate PR that emits the provider change and resyncs both model IDs for every provider.
