Themes: Ghostty / Warp import timeline, or a PR for a built-in Monokai? #377

Open

Description

@franzkurt

The README lists Import Warp and Ghostty themes under Planned.
I could not find its planned issue, so asking here.

  1. Is the Ghostty / Warp import coming soon?
    If so, Monokai would arrive with it and there is nothing to do.
  2. If not, would a PR adding Monokai as a built-in theme be welcome?
    It would follow the Rosé Pine precedent (b6a3a44): the chrome palette in index.css, the terminal palette in prefs.ts, and the picker, command palette and welcome registrations.
    The classic Monokai palette (#272822 background, #f8f8f2 foreground, #f92672 / #a6e22e / #e6db74 / #fd971f / #ae81ff / #66d9ef accents), not Monokai Pro, which is a separate commercial product.

Meanwhile a custom theme in ~/.config/termic/themes/ covers it locally, so this is about whether it belongs in the built-ins.

    Yes, a built-in Monokai PR is welcome.
    Classic palette as you listed, following b6a3a44.

    On the import question: it shipped in #395 (v1.15.0).
    With Ghostty installed, its bundled Monokai themes already show up in the picker, but that shouldn't be the only way to get it.
